History is made of stories

People who are aware of the past can shape the future.
Where do we come from, where are we going?

A brave step in turbulent times: In 1914 Stahlfeder Matratzenfabrik Rössle & Wanner KG is founded in Stuttgart, named after the two owner families. The company makes steel spring mattresses, spring cores, mattress protectors and Schlummaria mattress pads.

An air raid destroys the factory thirty years later. Work continues immediately in emergency quarters. Stay hopeful, believe in the future: The hymn "Lili Marleen" takes this concept around the world, and in 1944 as far as the USA.

Two years later we opened a new factory in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Petticoats, tulip lamps, hot wheels, swimming pools: Germany becomes "chic" in the 1950s. The site is given another, modern production building in 1957. Folding beds, loungers and lounger cushions are added to the portfolio.

The media age dawns, and in 1975 Bill Gates & Paul Allen found Microsoft. Important for our domestic consumers: Stiftung Warentest awards our Lattima slatted frame with the mark "very good": Röwa becomes successful across Germany.

The new company complex in Mössingen is built in 1994. To increase the production depth even further, in 1997 a sawmill is built where we process solid timber from local forests.

We develop Genio with a sprung base made from high-tech fabrics in 1999. Our innovative manufacturing process is patented.

Delighting people is decisive for our success: The concept flows into our emotional claim: “Röwa – Fascinating beds” in 2009.

2009 Premiere for the Someo bed range. It is perfectly adjusted to our various bed systems, but can also be combined with other systems.

Exclusively for Ecco2 specialist partner: In 2009 the digital measurement assistant that helps determine setting recommendations for the Ecco2 bed system goes online.

The location is continually expanded: Our customer center is established in 2010. The establishment of our own test and development center follows in 2011.

2012 Expertise at the POS – The Röwa measuring station demonstrates the importance of selecting the right combination of slatted frame and mattress to adjust the bed system to the individual body.

We have been continually increasing the production depth in our textile production since 2012.

The investment in a finger jointing line  has allowed us to use shorter timbers from solid beech wood and connect them to form high-quality solid timber slats since 2012.

2013 Launch of the patented "free elec® plus" technology – unique on the global market and the first remote system for motorized, adjustable slatted frames with 0.0 standby current. The hand transmitter is available with both remote or hard-wired operation.

2013 Introduction of the Unicata bed program based on an intelligent modular construction (patent pending). The core of the bed is the Röwa Boxframe® technology. In a similar way to a vehicle chassis, the "box frame" is the supporting unit for all applications attached to the bed.

2013 Introduction of the Selecta brand – the second brand from Rössle & Wanner GmbH to be manufactured at the Mössingen site.

In 2014 Rössle & Wanner signs the so-called WIN-Charta (sustainability business initiative) as a founding member and one of 38 companies from Baden-Württemberg. The company commits to complying with sustainability principles in the areas of economy, ecology and social issues.

In 2014, the independent and owner-managed company turns 100. Röwa produces exclusively at the company site in Mössingen/Baden-Württemberg – made in Germany.
